當澳洲的電視台老是晚了好幾個月 (平均八個月！) 才上映知名的節目，而語言又不是障礙時：Aussie TV Networks Fight BitTorrent (Slashdot )、Impatient TV viewers turn to BitTorrent (News.COM )。
而原因居然是：
Alex Malik, a former general counsel for the Australian Recording Industry Association, generated the report. Malik believes that by delaying the broadcast of these programs, Australian TV programmers have increased the domestic demand for the shows. “As a result, impatient viewers have increasingly turned to BitTorrent to download their favorite shows,” he said.
所謂的自食惡果 :p
Google Newsgroups 之的 spam 所以難擋是因為 NNTP-Posting-Host 是 Client IP，而有軟體會用 Open Proxy 連，造成 Cleanfeed 的 phl (NNTP-Posting-Host + Lines) 擋不住。
之前是直接把 Google Newsgroups 直接送 nocem 出去擋 (Issuer: nocem@news.math.nctu.edu.tw，Type: google)，剛剛才想到因為 NNTP-Posting-Host 是 Open Proxy IP，可以用 DNSBL 去查，然後擋 Open Proxy。
不過這樣就要考慮一些東西了 (DNSBL 反解不快，可能會造成 innd 卡住)，先只用 Spamhaus 的 sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org 做看看好了。
一般我們都用 cookie 來辨識使用者，不過根據 Slashdot 上所提到的報導，有 58% 的使用者會幹掉 cookie，進而產生新的 tracking method – 用 Macromedia’s Flash MX 的 Persistent Identification Element (PIE)：New Technique for Tracking Web Site Visitors 。

看到 Jan’s Tech Blog 在講用完即丟的 mail address，我之前有用過一些 Disposable Email Address Services，像是 Jetable.org (剛剛發現居然有繁體中文介面) 可以自己設定這個 temporal mail address 要保留多久：24hrs/48hrs/4days/6days/8days。
對於這些用完即丟的 mail address services 也應該要小心挑，因為有些跟本是順便蒐集你的 mail address 來賣… :P 這家在 Disposable Email Address Services 的知名度還算不錯，而且也有歷史了，基本上「可能」比較可以信賴 :p
台北管研的設備真的怪怪的 (交大 台北校區 ADSL 是接到台北管研)，尤其是那台 6509 與 2948 中間 interface 一直斷的問題…
喔，新竹的 ADSL 很好，我自己有拉一條，從 MRTG 上看起來跑的非常好，上次出現 packet lost 是跳電以後電腦關掉 XD (二月的時候吧？)
為什麼 Google News 沒有廣告？原因在「Google “Forgets” to put Ads in Google News? 」這篇裡面提到了：
“It takes years to become profitable in terms of total dollars invested, but we don’t even think about it,” he adds. “When we started Google News, we forgot to put ads in it. It’s not deliberate. We actually forgot.”

MySQL 從 5.0.1 升級到 5.0.2 後發現所有 connection 連過去都會被 access denied，看起來像是 privilege table 發生問題。
用 --skip-grant-tables 開起來進去看發現 password 的部分居然是舊的格式？該不會是當年從 3.23.58 升級上來的時候沒重設 password 吧 :P
重設了以後看起來正常了，特此記錄幹剿 XD

硬碟的密度突增：Hitachi claims leap in drive density ，Hitachi 宣布每平方英吋的容量可以到 230Gbits (約 30GBytes)，會在 2007 年推出。
