A Response to the Noise,下面的 comments 的話就暫時不用看好了 (已經破百了)。

To thrive as an independent project WordPress needs to be self-sufficient.

I did not know they had mesowhatever/asbestos content on them until Andy Baio messaged me.

In any case everything has been taken down and I’m seeing if I can refund what they’ve already paid for the remainder of the month.

As of writing this WordPress search results on Google seem to have returned to normal as well.

U of Maryland tries to eliminate illegal P2P with lame software

The Baltimore Sun is reporting on the University of Maryland’s bid to wean students off a campus Direct Connect hub by buying into a program from Cdigix.

XD Student Hacks System to Alter Grades

A UCSB student is being charged with four felonies after she allegedly stole the identity of two professors and used the information to change her own and several other students’ grades, police said.

The Universty of California Santa Barbara has a custom program, eGrades, where faculty can submit and alter grades. It’s password protected, of course. But there’s a backup system, so that faculty who forget their password can reset it using their Social Security number and date of birth.

On Mr. da Silva’s watch, Brazil has also become the first country to require any company or research institute that receives government financing to develop software to license it as open-source, meaning the underlying software code must be free to all.

By the end of April, the government plans to roll out a much ballyhooed program called PC Conectado, or Connected PC, aimed at helping millions of low-income Brazilians buy their first computers.

“We’re not going to spend taxpayers’ money on a program so that Microsoft can further consolidate its monopoly. It’s the government’s responsibility to ensure that there is competition, and that means giving alternative software platforms a chance to prosper.”

Internet:

Buyers will be able to pay in 24 installments of 50 to 60 reais, or about $18 to $21.80 a month, an amount affordable for many working poor. The country’s top three fixed-line telephone companies – Telefónica of Spain; Tele Norte Leste Participações, or Telemar; and Brasil Telecom – have agreed to provide a dial-up Internet connection to participants for 7.50 reais, or less than $3, a month, allowing 15 hours of Web surfing.
